Office 2004 SP 2, G4 PowerMac with 1.25 Ghz RAM, 120 Gb HD:
I've been working with -and heavily editing- a 15-MB PowerPoint
presentation for several days. This morning I accidentally started
Classic (by unintendedly clicking a Classic application), whereupon
PowerPoint would no longer save the file.
Attempts to save were met with a flurry of messages to the effect that
"There has been a problem saving this file" or "This file is read-only.
Would you like to save it under another name" or words to that effect.
This went on for several minutes and several attempts, all of which
failed. I quit the application, made safety copies of my precious file,
reopened it, tried to save again, nothing. I did this several times. No
dice. Eventually the application crashed saying that "There has been a
problem saving" the temp file.
Suddenly recalling that Classic was on (it never is) I turned it off.
End of problem. I have saved the file a hundred times since.
Is this a known issue?
