can access communicate w/ filemaker? in other words, if one person in an
office uses filemaker and the other access, can out databases communicate w/
each other through import/export? i know access, but don't know filemaker at

Such interoperability as exists is provided via ODBC. As I understand
it, recent versions of FileMaker can - up to a point - read data from
ODBC-compatible sources including Access/Jet databases. But FileMaker
does not make its own data available via ODBC, so Access can't access
it. For more information, consult the FileMaker support site.

Both Access and Filemaker can import and export data in standard formats
such as CSV text, so data can be exchanged at that level.

In both situations, the different conceptual bases of the two systems
mean that the data may be structured very differently, which can make
the exchange of data much more difficult.
