Fileopen command and unexpected results

I've recorded a macro which uses the fileopen method. When the macro ran, I
received some unexpected results. The file being opened was a published
project file. I used a 'map' with a merge key. After the macro finished
the datasource wasn't merged to the published project file. Unexpectedly, a
new project file was created with the same name as the 'map' name. I test
the map using another non-published file and it successfully merge data into
that subject file. I've read the help file about the fileopen method and
don't know what could be causing the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.
