fileopenex and fileopen

I only know that fileopenex is for MS project 2007
is there any other difference between them?
so for MS project 2007, is it better to use fileopenex than fileopen in
performance?

I am not aware of any documented differences. But, since they changed it,
there must have been a reason. You could test and see if you determine any
difference.
