I am trying to assign a file to this command and then set it for a keyboard/keystroke command.

Has anyone ever done this or used this MS Word command?

Thank you,

You want to always open the *same* file with one keystroke?

I tried to make that command (in Tools | Customize, right?) work the
other day and couldn't do it. But there are other methods.

1) open the doc. Now go to the Work menu and click "add to work menu".
It will always be pinned there for easy access.

2) record a macro of yourself opening the document. Then you can assign
a keystroke to the macro (macro for 2004 only--2008 would need AppleScript)

The file you want to assign to the command must have been saved at least
once & must be Open at the time you want to assign the command & keystroke.
If you have the file open in your active window the file name will appear in
the list to the right of the command. Other files open at the time will be
offered in the list.

Works fine here - just make sure you click the Assign button after you type
the key combo before clicking OK;-)

Ah, thanks! That's why I couldn't figure it out.

And to think that a mere 6 months ago I didn't even know the FileOpenFile:
command existed! That's what I love about this place - we *all* learn
something new every time we poke our nose in:)
