files in DESCENDING alphabetical order

All of a sudden, when I select file > open in Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, or Publisher, the directories and files on my computer show up in
DESCENDING alphabetical order. In Explorer they are in ASCENDING
alphabetical order In other programs - not Microsoft - they show up in
ascending order. They used to show up in ascending order in Microsoft
programs as well. Why the change, and what can I do about it? It is driving
me bonkers! My Microsoft programs are 2002.

Word and the other Office products remember the last way the Open and
Save dialogs were sorted. Sometime in the past the Name header was
clicked to sort it in descending order. Simply click it again to sort
it in ascending order, select and open a file and, voila, it will
remain in ascending order.
