Files in Shared Documents

Wickiup

I am running ON 7 on a desktop and laptop.

I initially transfered my notebooks to the laptop throught the Share folder.
From that point everything works well and syncronizes as expected.

At this time I assume that was the/a correct way to place the notebooks on
the laptop.
Also at this time the notebooks are still listed in the Share folder on both
computers.
Can/should I remove them and if so will everthing sync as it should?

Thank you

Can you explain what is meant by "the notebooks are still listed in the
Share folder on both computers"? Do you mean the shared documents folder on
both computers or when they visit the same share they see the same files?

Is the problem that you are concerned that you have redundant notebooks?

Problem solved. Grand daughter was moving notebooks to laptop
and got a bit histerical that gramps would not approve.

She is not all that computer savvy at 14 and was not certain how
the sync thingy worked. She does not have access to newsgroups
on my computer so used my account to communicate not realizing
I read these groups too.

Anyway all is well and we are all going to the beach for a few days.

Thanks

Great story!
Thanks for keeping us updated.

Only too often the kids are ways faster and far more clever than us
grandfathers <g>.
But at times they just are not experienced enough <bg>
So in this very case. ;-)

Tell her that it is *NOT* a "correct way to place the notebooks on
the laptop".
ON is different from *all*other* applications:
Its fantastic feature of "automatic synching" requires that the
notebooks are neither *moved* nor *copied* to a second computer.

Have a nice holiday
