Files randomly going read-only

I'm using Word 2007 on a Vista machine. Often while I'm editing a file and
save it with control-S, Word will suddenly announce that the file is
read-only and I have to save it under a different filename to preserve my
changes. Others have had this problem and their Web postings sometimes
suggest it has something to do with the trial version. I have never had a
trial version; my Word is part of a fully-registered Office suite that I had
installed when I bought the machine. Can anybody help with the cause and the
fix?

It is much more likely to be a rogue third party add-in. Take look at what
add-ins you have and disable them to see if it eliminates the problem.
