FileSearch in Excel 2002 in WinXP

chuckle

FileSearch does not seem to work (i.e. always returns
empty list) in Excel2002 in WinXP, though it works fine
in Win2K.
Anybody have similar problems or a solution?

Chuckle,

I think the general consensus is that FileSearch is "Broken" when used in Windows XP. Use either the FileSystemObject from MS
Scripting, or DIR.

With xl2002 and win98, I've never seen .filesearch return a completely empty
list. I have seen it return the wrong number of files, though.

With Windows XP and Excel XP, it returns a count of 0. A "For Each F in .FoundFiles" statement
immediately skips to the Next F statement.

Another good reason to live in the past. 1998 Rules!

Thanks for the info.

I can't say I agree with that conclusion. I've had WinXP crash completely only once, and that
was due to a corrupted MS Publisher document. After I rebuilt it, I've never had another system
crash -- apps, yes, but not Windows.

Hi Myrna

I not have seen this problem on my system
Can you send me a example sub to see if the code is different

The real reason I haven't upgraded is that my system is at the bottom of the
recommended specs for winXP. Someday, I'll join the new millenium. (And I'll
party like it's 1999!)

I've read a few posts that XP is pretty rock stable. (I know that 98 isn't!)

And that's a valid reason, I'm sure.
