Fill In and Ask Feilds

In Word 2000 I had several templates that have ASK and
Fill in feilds with and with out REF.
The issue is that prior to XP they all worked fine , now
that i am on XP , it prompts me to add information to
these feilds when it is printing and not merging , all
settings are ( Or Seem ) correct If I go to Options and
under print I have Update feilds checked off.
I have 2 machines side by side and they are working
compleatly opposite ???!!!
any suggestions ?

Hi Ernie,

"update fields checked off" could be interpreted both ways;
is the option actually activated, or deactivated?

Might there be a macro on the one machine that's forcing
the update/prompts? If you start Word using the /a switch
do you still see the problem?
