Fill in and print a PDF form in Word 2007

J

John

I's like to use my Word 2007 to do my tax forms. I can download pdfs of the
forms from the IRS. Is there a way I can get them into Word so I can fill out
the fields and then print for submission tot he IRS?

Thx for your help, John

It is probably not practicable to do this. If your tax forms are anything
like ours they comprise more than one page, so you have the problem of
splitting the pdf(s) into separate pages so that you can insert those pages
as background images. Then you would have to build a table over the form to
accept your input, before finally removing the background image (or at least
ensuring it didn't print) before printing on the downloaded form.

As Graham says, this is way more trouble than it is worth. If you want to be
able to fill in and print tax forms electronically, you need to use
TurboTax, TaxCut, or some other tax software that is set up to do this.

And they now refuse to sell a version that doesn't include e-file! so
you don't need to print out the forms anyway.

TurboTax claims to offer an absolutely free download of the simple
Federal program, so if you don't have anything complicated to do, and
don't mind doing your state return by hand, that might be the best
solution for you.

I trust the current versions still allow you to print out the forms; I know
my husband will never agree to e-file. He doesn't trust the Internet with
his SS#, credit card numbers, etc.
