Fill in boxes

Zoe Jones

Hi

I have set up some templates with fill in boxes that pop
up when you run the template. My users want to be able to
put the name and address into lables/envelopes but they do
not appear when hightlighted and lables/envelope is
selected. How can I get the fields to work?

Hi Perry

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried your suggestion, but it didn't work. It only
seems to allow me to alter the information in the pop-up
boxes not use the address information in the
labels/envelope option. Is there anything else you can
suggest, or do you think I may have done it wrong?

many thanks

These dialog boxes are "picky" about what they'll pick up
automatically as addresses. Easiest thing for users to do
(with no VBA code involved) is to press Ctrl+C to copy the
highlighted information to the clipboard. Then they display
the dialog box and press ctrl+V to paste it in.

Ouch!
:(

Look at what Cindy countered as alternative.

If you have time to develop something new,
I'd suggest using a userform instead.
That is, if you have the time to develop such a tool.
Look at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Userforms/CreateAUserForm.htm
to judge:
- usefulness of a userform in yr situation
- (time)impact to develop such a dialog

Hi Perry

Thanks again for your help, it may be the way I have set
up my template is the reason your suggestion didn't work.

I will try the form option and see if that works.

Thanks again

Zoe
