Filter on project section?

Is there any way that I can create a filter that shows a
particular section of a plan (a summary task and all of
it's children)?

Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
Probably the easiest way is to set a spare flag field (e.g. Flag1) for
the tasks of interest and then filter on the flag.

It takes 4 (maybe 5) clicks.

1. If necessary, on the Formatting toolbar, Click on the AutoFilter
button (looks like a funnel).

2. At the top of the Task column Click on the downward pointing triangle.

3. Click on the name of the summary task you are interested in.

4. Click on the little plus symbol to the left of the summary task name.

5. Click on it again to see all the tasks beneath it.

Thanks, but when there are hundreds of tasks the
autofilter list is too big to sort through. I was hoping
for a 1-click solution.

Hello Ben,
What I suggest :

Insert a Number(x) column : Insert / Column
Right click this Numberx column / Customize Fields...
Rename : I renamed it "Chapter"
Formula : Left([Outline Number];1)
Calculation for summary... Use formula
OK

Create a filter : Project / Filter for / More filters / New...
Field Name = Chapter
Test : Equals
Value : "Chapter : "?

Then check the WBS code of the summary you want and activate the filter

Hope this helps,

Gérard Ducouret
