Filter: Should Start/Finish By - Sometimes Skips Detailed Tasks

C

Cole

This has happened to me on a couple of files and I can't figure it out
so I'll ask all of you guys/gals:

When I use a 'Should Start/Finish By' filter (Filter below)

And/Or Field Name Test
Value(s)
Start Is less than or
equal to Status Date
and Actual Start equals
NA

OR
Finish Is less than or
equal to Status Date
and Actual Finish equals
NA

The filter sometimes skips detailed tasks that meet this critieria and
doesn't include them when I run filter....Any Thoughts??

Hi Cole,

Are you showing all tasks before you run the filter? Click the Show
button in the Formatting toolbar and select All subtasks. Then try
running the filter again.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Cole,
The first thing that comes to mind, is your plan fully exploded? If the
tasks "missed" by the filter are under a summary that has been
collapsed, they will not be picked up.

The second question is, how does "status date" actually show in your
filter? Status Date is not a field recognized directly by a filter. Is
it a date you enter? Did you put the Status Date in a custom field and
then test for that in the filter?

I'll look for that. Good point. I'll post back my results.

It's the little items that get cha.

Yep. dang it. I had a filter ran before I ran my second filter. Such a
bonehead thing to do. LOL.

John, yeah i'm using a customized field for simplicity sake didn't post
that in my first post. Thanks for the info.

Cole,
OK, so does that mean that you solved the problem? If so, good. If not,
post back.
