FILTER & SORT PROBLEM

Using an XP, problem is ex. "A" and "a" shows up together when selecting "A"
from the filter. Tried to do a sort and the treatment is the same. A and a
together in one column with no sequence distinction at all (ex. Col A will
show AAAAaAAaAA.
Is this a bug or I just need to select an option or properties?
