Filtering and view the Gantt

Majid

Hello Dear:
My projects are small in duration ( 3 months ) and during
planning the new projects I need to see all the scheduled
projects as per monthly basis. Up to now I enter all the
projects in a single master file and using the "data
range" to filter as per month basis. However, I would
like to do the easier way and that is to have a master
file and create a work sheets similar to the excell work
sheets and name every work sheet to a different month of
the year. These worksheets must be drived form one
resource pool and one master entry but . Please advise
how to arrange this. all the months to be viewed by
clicking the work sheet
Please advise

The tabbed sheet feature does not exist in Project, though I know it has
been requested.

The closest you can get is to define a number of filters (one for each
month - using fixed dates and not user input) and then define a number of
views which use the same table but which use these different filters.

Make sure that the views "show in menu" and then you will see them all in
the view menu.
If you start them with an underscore _ then they will be sorted to the front
of the list where you can find them easily.

Hi Jack Thank you for your advise. Please help me
undrestand this. I am able to create more view tables for
each month and ensure that it shows in the menu bar.
However, I am not sure how to define filter for one
month. Let say "October view"
I am not sure about the fixed date that applies to a
filter.
Please advise

Go to project menu
select filters
more filters
new
set the criteria the way you like
For example

Finish greater than or equal to 10/1/2004

Just type in the date you want.
I'd add another criteria (with an and) which is start is less than or equal
to 10/31/2004
That will cover all tasks which are going on in that month.

Thank you Jack it is working
Please advise how to delete the other filters from the
menu that I do not need it to be viewed? For i.e. "linked
field" I have tried the organizer feature but i was not
successful.
PLease advise

It appears to be a built in filter.
Did you try and delete it from global.mpt using the organizer?
If you can't then perhaps it is not possible.
Why not just leave it there? You can make your own filters appear at the
head of the list by starting the name with an underscore _ (other characters
may work as well - but I haven't tried them)

I have deleted the extra ones from my file by using the
organizer but still appearing in the menu
