Filtering out information

Just wondering if there is any way of applying a filter to remove
certain segments.

E.g. filter out everyone called Jones in a list so that all other names are
left on the sheet except Jones

Thanx in advance,

You can do this with an AutoFilter

Select a cell in the list
Choose Data>Filter>AutoFilter
From the dropdown in the Names column heading, choose 'Custom'
In the Custom AutoFilter dialog box, from the first dropdown,
choose 'does not contain'
In the text box, type: Jones
Click OK

I have done this, but I need to put in about key 100 words, and there's not
enough space and it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

You can use Advanced Filter instead. There are instructions here:

http://www.contextures.com/xladvfilter01.html

Enter your key words in a list on the worksheet.

Set up a criteria area with a blank heading cell, and the
following formula in the cell below:
=COUNTIF($H$1:$H$150,A2)=0
where the list of key words is in column H and the names start
in cell A2
Run the Advanced Filter, and select the blank heading cell,
and formula, as the criteria area.
