final showing markup

Every time I open a Word document (new or old), the
document opens in the "Final Showing Markup" setting.

I'm not sure how to fix this problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This is by design, to prevent you from inadvertently sending someone a
document containing tracked changes. Although I don't advise it, you can
change this behavior with a setting on the Security tab of Tools | Options
("Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving").
