Financial Information

Kuzmenko Alexander

Hello, All
In our company managers don't have access to financial information. We are
trying to migrate to MS Project Server 2007 can we hide this information?
And how?

Financial information includes (resource rates, tasks cost, fixed costs and
etc.).

Thanks for the answer.

No, you cannot hide resource rates, task costs, and fixed costs from your
project managers in Project Server 2007. Sorry.

Do you have link or another source to approve this information preferably on
official MS site or MSDN?
Thanks for help

Alexander:

In Project, Project Managers are expected to manage costs, so Project
Mangers have access to this data. You can hide this information in PWA, but
you cannot hide it in the Project Client. This is a legacy behavior. The
Project client has changed very little since 2000.

What are you asking me? I don't understand. Are you asking for a link to a
Microsoft site or MSDN site to "prove" that what I am saying is true? If
so, there is no such link. If you or your boss don't believe me, I would
suggest you repost this question and see if you can get anyone else in this
newsgroup to give you the SAME ANSWER as me.

Otherwise, I would suggest you drop your plans to use actual financial
information, such as salaries or pay rates, in your Project Server system.
Or else you need to plan for what to do when your project managers actually
see this information. As I stated, there is no way to hide this information
in Microsoft Project. As Gary stated, you can hide it in PWA, but you
cannot hide it in Microsoft Project. Hope this helps.
