Find and Replace function

Find and Replace function in Word is not recognizing the paragraph mark (^p).
Wanted to switch with tabs (^t) but the search function only recognizes the
last return of the document

Do you have the non-printing characters (¶) displayed so you can tell
whether there actually are separate paragraphs or if the text is being
broken by some other means (such as line breaks)?

If the ¶ marks do in fact display, are they individually selectable?

Or can you triple-click in what appears to be a paragraph & have just it be
selected rather than the entire document?

Could you be dealing with content that may have been pasted from a web page
or some such source?

BTW: It always helps to mention your exact version of the program :)

That suggests that the document is a single paragraph and that what you have
are actually line breaks (^l) or possibly line breaks that look like
paragraph marks (^013).
