Find and Replace opens new blank document

Does anyone know how to resolve this. When I go to "find
and replace" in any Word document, a new, blank, Word
window opens. This prevents me from doing any word
searches in the document I attempt to search. Any ideas?

Thanks a million!

Yes,

1) I have ONE word document open

2) I click either Ctrl + F, or Edit to Find and Replace
The Find box opens up with another version of Word (it
looks like Word if you were to close the document, but
NOT the program - so, you are not actually looking at a
blank [white screen] document - just a grey program
window of Word).

3) I do find next, and it says none (because it is not
searching the document I asked it to search, it is
searching the blank program screen that came up)

That's bizarre. I'm not one to rush to re-install Word, but that's what
what I would do.

Can't see the original message, but from the title it sounds like a graphics
driver for multiple monitor support might be the cause.

If you use ATI Hydravision, try if killing Desk95.exe from the task manager
gets rid of the problem.
