find and replace word perfect charchter

I have a 400 page document typed in word perfect 8. I coverted to a word 2003
document. All of the apostrophes and quotation marks didn't convert properly.
Tried using find and replace. Because it doesn't recognize charachter, it
will not let you copy and paste into find. I have already changed all
apostrophes by hand, 1000's but there are many more quotation marks. Any
suggestions

Some WP converters insert symbol fields. Use Alt+F9 (toggle field codes) to
check.
To replace them, you'd need something like Edit > Replace,
Find what: ^d SYMBOL 55 \f "WP Typographical Symbols"
(^d for the opening field brace... "Find" automatically selects the whole
field, so you don't need the closing field brace.)
