find and replace

Hi ,
I posted a message yesterday about finding and replacing
a carriage return character (which appears as a small
square) I got two responses and would like to thank the
repliers very much. Unfortunately I still cannot get the
find and replace to find the character.
I have tried alt+0013 and alt+0010. I also tried with a
macro, alas to no effect.

Thanks again, any further suggestions?

Best Regards
Iain

Have you tried to copy the offending character, then paste it into the
"Find" box? I find that this sometimes works with unknown characters.

The other way to identify what it is, is to figure out its position, i.e. the 7th character in
the cell. Then use the formula =CODE(MID(A1,7,1))
