Find dialog invisible

Hello-

A weird problem is happening to a user here: her Find dialog has become
invisible. It still works (i.e. you can press Cmd-F, then type in a phrase
and hit return, and then it will search, and it can be dismissed by hitting
Escape), it just isn't visible anywhere on the screen. Does someone know
where the screen position of the dialog is recorded so I could fix the Prefs
file? It doesn't seem to be ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Excel.plist,
though.

Many thanks in advance for any clues,
Ulf

The "usual" way this happens is the dialog was opened with the screen
resolution set higher, moved near the edge, then the screen resolution
set back to a lower value. However, it seems to me the Replace dialog
should reposition itself to the edge of the screen, so I'm not sure why
it's not doing so.

With XL closed, try trashing the

~:Library:preferences:Excel Toolbars (11)

file. Empty the trash, then restart XL.

Thanks, that worked. In looking for "com.microsoft.*.plist" files I hadn't
noticed the folder ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Although I don't think that the problem actually was the Find dialog being
off-screen, because none of the other dialogs would show either (Sort,
Preferences...). Anyway, thrashing the Excel files from that folder restored
things to normal.
