find images in slide

I have a bunch of images stacked on top of each other in a single slide and
each one has its own special position. Now I need to assing animations to
them so certain ones fade in and out on command (click), and some of them I
need to fade in and out several different times. I thought there would me a
menu somewhere that would show me a list of all the objects and files in the
slide, so i could select the object from the menu rather than clicking on
it. with out this feature, it will be very difficult to select the images
and assign the animations to them.

Any pointers here?

You should assign animations to the objects when you first insert them into
the slide. Then you will have a menu of items. Try this, it may or may not
work for you.

PPT 2003 instructions, modify for PPT 2007


Method 1. If you only have items on the slide you want to animate. Hold the
Ctrl key down and press the A key. This should select all the items on the
slide. Right click on any item that is highlighted. Click Custom
Animation. Click Add effect, Entrance. Select any entrance method desired.
Your menu should appear on the right side of the window.

Method 2. If you have headers, footers that you don't want to include in
the animation, Place the mouse cursor to the upper left area of the items
you want to animate. Left click and drag down and to the right and make
sure all items that you want to animate are within the drag marks on the
screen. Let go of the left mouse button. This will select all the items
included within the dragged area. Continue from the right click
instructions for Method 1 above.

One point. If you want an image to animate more than one time, you need to
make multiple copies of the item and separately animate them within the
slide. Placing them in the sort order desired in the animation menu created
in Method 1 or 2 above.

Just one thing to add -- if you're using PPT 2007, there's a Selection and
Visibility Pane. It's available from the Home tab. On the far right, click
"Select," then Selection Pane.
