Find Modified Date

MartyLake

I received a Word document as an email attachment. Is there a way to find
the date/time it was last modified before being sent in an email? I've
looked at the file properties in explorer and Word, but they just display the
time when I saved the file or when the email was sent. Any help is
appreciated. Thanks.

If you haven't changed the file, insert a SAVEDATE field. It should tell you
the date and time that the document was last saved.

In Vista (not sure about Windows XP), in Windows Explorer--Details
view--Date last saved and Date both show the same date as the SAVEDATE field
(which is different from the Modified date, which corresponds to when you
save the file to your HDD).

There is no accurate way to do this and no way that cannot be changed if the
sender wished to mask this information. The dates contained in a file would
not, for example, be accepted in a court of law, without additional
corroboration.
