Find/Replace Issues - Word 2007

Hello

I have a 71,000 page manuscript. My find/replace function does not finish.
I run Word 2007. The document is not image-laden nor is it very large. I
have to hit escape, lest it keep going.

In Word 2003, I am able to successfully find and replace; it doesn't hang.

Is this another "undocumented feature" of Word 2007?

Are you searching/replacing paragraph marks? If so, there's a known bug in
Word 2007 (yeah, I guess you could call it an "undocumented feature" <g>).
See if the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955587/en-us?FR=1 helps.

That hotfix worked! My index removal trick from Ms. Barnhill also works.
