Find/Replace multiple spaces

Keith

All paragraphs in a large document I inherited were set to be
justified and the writers used tabs and multiple spaces at times to
make things "look better". In addition, most sentences are separated
by two spaces. I believe the current "standards" call for a single
space between sentences and left align paragraphs instead of justify
due to readability concerns.

What is the best way to fix these to problems? Is there a special way
of doing Find/Replace where it will look for all "multiple spaces" and
repalce with just one? How about Tabs within a paragraph (If I search
for any tab I'll get the ones between outline numbering, etc.). I
think I'd want to manually accept each change though just in case. How
about a setting with regards to two spaces between paragraphs?

Thanks!

Here's how I have done some of this stuff, Keith:

multiple spaces: Ctrl+H, two spaces in the find box, one space in the
replace box, replace all and then hit replace all again and again until zero
replacements are made. Ctrl+H, find a colon :)) followed by one space and
replace with a colon and two spaces.

multiple paragraph returns: Find 3 paragraph returns (^p^p^p) and replace
with 2. Replace all until zero replacements.

Of course, instead of replace all, you can choose "next" to go through them
one at a time. I use my mouse to click NEXT and I hold my left hand over the
R key for replace and cruise through pretty fast that way.

Hope this helps!
