Find & Replace (power) shortcuts for 2008

I'm on a mission to keep my hands on the keyboard. (Mighty Mouse, it's nothing personal. Really.)

I use Find & Replace (F+R) in Word 08 intensively. I would like to navigate the F+R dialog box (F+R.db)without leaving my keyboard.

I've heard mention of some exisiting "hidden" keyboard shortcuts (keycuts) in the F+R.db. (I have not found them on my "ListCommands" matrix. It's 1300 rows long, ya know.)

Does anyone know of any ("hidden") DEFAULT KEYCUTs for the FIND+REPLACE db?

Especially a KEYCUT for *REPLACE ALL*?

Does anyone know how to tweak the F+R.db such that *SEARCH ALL* becomes the DEFAULT instead of "Search down"?

Thanks tons,

Hyland

THANKS tons to the angel who posted the script whereby Command-V automatically pastes unformatted text. It works like a charm. And if you include a hard return with the text you copy, you *can* carry over a style if you ever want to. MAGIC!

I'm not aware of any keystroke for that action, nor has a brief
investigation suggested anything to which one could be assigned.

The best I can suggest is to use the Tab key to move the focus while in the
F&R dialog, then press return when the preferred control is selected. You
may need to make an adjustment in System Preferences> Keyboard & Mouse
(although its a bit differently located in 10.6) to enable Full Keyboard
Access to "All Controls" rather than "Text Boxes & Lists Only".

Thanks, Bob!

I didn't know about the ability to change "focus" -- that's a handy thing.

Alas, it didn't work, though. I think it's time to start checking out scripting!

Hello Hyland;

My mistake -- I forgot that had been broken :-} Not sure whether it was MS
or Apple that did it... But this will do the trick:

Don't even bother Tabbing to the button. Once you specify your F&R criteria
use the keystroke: Command+A

For single replacements use: Command+R

Hi Bob and HOLY SMOKES!!!

Why didn't I think to try Command-A? It's so logical!

Of course I had tried Command-R, but that didn't work.

Sometimes I think software developers have secret underground tribunals where they scheme to HIDE the best features from us peon users! ;)

Thanks SO much; you've just saved me oodles of time!
