Hi,

The "Find & Replace" Window is right in the way of what I'm trying to find,
which are manual page breaks. I need to see the chapter numbers (56 of
them) that are right next to the manual page breaks. The "Find & Replace"
window won't stay in the place I drag it to, aside or down. The next click
on 'find' and it pops back to the center of the screen. Is there a way to
make it stay where I want it to, or is there another solution to this
problem?

Thanks,

Rafael

There is. Close the find-replace window and use cmd-opt-y for find next.

However, in my testing, the find and replace dialogue box did not leap
back to centre screen when I hit "find next". I can't imagine what
would make your copy of Word act so bizarrely.

I'm finding the same as Elliott - the F&R box stays right where I put it
regardless of what it is I'm searching for. My only guesses would center on
Word being fully updated or corrupt prefs/plist file.

However, in addition to his Cmd+Opt+Y solution you also have the Browse
Objects button at the bottom end of the Vertical Scroll Bar if you prefer to
use the mouse. Once you set up the Find dialog & execute the first Find Next
you can close it all together then use the double arrow buttons to go
forward or backward on the basis of the Find criteria.

Cmd+Opt+Y and the Browse Objects button work very well. I don't know yet if
I will encounter some delay with not having the F&R box open all the time
with all it's options available. I change those all the time, like, 'search
up', 'search down'.

re: the problem stemming from "Word [needing to be]fully updated or corrupt
prefs/plist file."

I just went to a word doc, and yes, that's what it does indeed‹snap back to
the middle. By fully updated do you mean going to word 2008? 2004 does
everything I need. Or do you mean an up grade?

Could you direct me to a MVP paper that deals with corrupt prefs/plist file.

Thanks, Rafael

Well, just because you *can* close the dialog doesn't mean you *have* to:)
Leave it open if you wish. Once you click into the doc the F&R dialog will
lurk in the background until you click it or Command+` or Command+F to bring
it forward again.

By "fully updated" I meant the most recent update for the release version
involved - in your case 11.4.1 is the current build.

OK.

I see I have 11.3. I've gone to the download page, and between 11.3 and
11.4.1, there are these in-between updates. Do I have to install each of
these prior to installing 11.4.1, or can I go right to 11.4.1 Update?

Yeah, only 11.3.9 is a catch-up, so you'll have to start with it then do the
rest in order:-( The good news is that the rest of them are very small. I'd
just d/l the 11.3.5, apply it, then let AutoUpdate handle the remainder.
