Find won't find endnote numbers

A Word file I have for reference in a project includes superscript
endnote numbers in the text which I sometimes want to locate with Edit
Find. These display on the screen (although I have to view it at
200% to read them easily) and print out as superscript numbers, but
searching with the number + format superscript, Find doesn't recognize
them.

The number is in a rectangular dotted-line box and highlights to the
full height and depth of the line. If I hover the pointer over a
number, it displays the text of the actual endnote in a tan box.

iBook G4, latest update of OSX, Word 2004

Thanks!

Okay. It's not working (I think) because the endnotes are generated
auto-numbers. They aren't plain-text numbers. That is, even though it
looks like a 1 to you, to Word it's a special code that says "endnote at
this location, to be numbered depending on how many endnotes come before
it". So Find doesn't find a superscript 1, although if you tell it to
find superscript only, it will find the next note.

For finding a specific endnote, your best option is Edit | Go To, where
you can select Endnote in the left and enter the specific number in the
right. It's even in the same dialog as Find and Replace.

You can also click on the little round button between the double arrows
at the bottom of the scroll bar and set the double arrows to Next
Endnote and Previous Endnote, to browse through all endnotes. More info:

And the Find and Replace dialog has a Special menu that lets you find
Endnote Marks.

Hey! that works like a charm! Thank you so much!
