Finding a document

I thought I had posted this before, but I'm not sure. In WordPerfect if I
remember an unusual word that is IN a document, but not the document name, I
can go to File-Open-Quick Finder, then Search For ____ and give a Date
Range. It will give me a list of any documents with that word in. Is there
anything comparable to that in MS Word? I arises when I don't remember the
name of the document!

What version of Word? In earlier versions of Word, there was an extremely
handy feature built into the Open dialog, which did exactly what you want.
Somebody, however, "knew better", and the resulting Advanced Find feature is
much more tedious to use. But, what you have all depends on which version of
Word you have.

You can, by the way, use Windows Explorer to find text in files. Personally,
I find it a lot faster, less confusing, and more reliable than searches
using Words "enhanced" search capability.

Sorry, I should have said that I have Word 2003 and Win XP. How would I
find something using Windows Explorer? I just tried and the "search dog"
opens up and only gives (one of the options) files and folders, so I'm back
at square one, not knowing the name of the file.

I just looked again, and found a way in Explorer. I clicked on Documents;
Advanced Search Options; A word or phrase in the document. Thanks!
