Finding a File

In Office 97 I could find a Word or Excel by just typing
part of the name in the file name box in the open file
inquiry and it would give me a list of all files
containing that word. I used it to do everything! Office
XP does not appear to do that; you need to do an exact
match. Is there a way to set up the open file dialog
like the "better" Office 97? Using the search features is
light years too slow.

I have the same problem. Best I can come up with is to
use wildcards. For example, ac* will find everything
starting with ac, *ac* will find everything containing ac
(just like Office 97) and *ac will find everything ending
in ac.
