Finding bold text

Is there a way to find bold text using Find when the bold
text is not actually applied manually to the text, but is
part of the style of that text?

Find will find any text that is actually bold, regardless of how that came
about..

And if you can't find it, it's probably formatted in a font that looks bold
(such as "Arial Black").
In that case, search for the specific font.

BTW, I often wish there *was* a way to restrict the search for a certain
formatting to manual formatting...

You are right. I wrote a macro that searched for and
manipulated only bold text. It worked on manually
formatted bold but not on bold that was part of the style.
It turns out that I had make an error in the macro, and
now that I've fixed it, all is well.

Thanks for you help...

Hi John,

Would you mind posting your macro with the error, or say what the error was?
Someone else on this thread commented that it would actually be very useful
to be able to find only manual formatting, not formatting that is part of
the style, so how'd you do that?

Thanks,

My macro also changed multiple paragraphs marks for single
paragraph marks, and I think that this changed some of the
styles to different styles that didn't have bold text.
Sorry, I haven't found a way to find only manually-applied
bold formatting.
