Finding out size of graphics

L

Lin

I have several very large files that have graphics
embedded. I need to reduce the file size, and I'm pretty
sure that some of those graphics can be converted to .png
files to make the files they are in smaller, but how do I
figure out the size of an inserted graphic without the
original graphic available? I'm using Word 2000.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Size as in "file size"? Word doesn't provide any facility
for this. If you were a C++ programmer, or something like
that, you chould probably extract it from Word's binary file
format.

Other than that, my only suggestion would be to save the
file to HTML format, which will export graphics (often to
*.gif format, or *.jpg in later versions of Word if the
original file was in that format).

Did you get a resolution to your problem? I am having a similar problem but my graphics aren't linked; they are embedded. I am replacing English graphics with French ones so they are essentially the same picture/same size, yet my French file is 3 times bigger than the English version. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated
