Finish Date vs Actual Finish Date

Where or what calculation from Project Server 2003 tables can the actual
finish date relative to the current date be recorded? All my Actual Finish
fields = Finish Date regardless of when it is completed. OR have I failed
to set something up properly?

Hi,

No you haven't.
Once a task is recorded as finished, Finish=Actual Finish
Reality is reality, one does not change history.
No link whatsoever to current date.

Bert,

When a task is done, the finish date always equals the actual finish date.
If you want to store your original plan and compare how the project actual
turned out against what you planned, then you need to set a baseline at the
beginning of the project and compare against that. Project allows you to set
up to 11 baselines, so you can compare against key points in your project.

Unfortunately, setting a baseline is something you need to do before you
have made changes to the dates. So if you have already made changes to the
dates and haven't saved a baseline then there is no easy way to get there.

Bert:

When you track a project, you need to enter actual start and actual finish
if you want the system to know that things didn't happen exactly as planned.
Otherwise, Project assumes that you, like most of us, are executing our work
perfectly on time when you apply status only by percent complete.<g> IOW, to
get more accurate tracking history, you need to provide more data.
