hello all,

the task dates in our group project are always changing. it's mostly the
finish date that gets changed and it's a wacky date like 2048 or something.

also can some one verify a suspicion of mine?

a project view (say gantt) is closed/saved with sort/filter options applied
that were'nt in place when opened, this can throw people off the next time
they open the file? plz explain.

Hi chu,

A couple of guesses/questions:

Do you have resources assigned to summary tasks?
Do you have you Resource Leveling set to automatic?

Hi chu,

Sorry, I'm off line on Monday and Tuesday. Post some more information
on Monday morning and perhaps someone else will jump in.

Sounds like you have an endless loop somewhere, perhaps a SF link, an ALAP
constraint, or a link to a hammock task that sends the date out until it
overflows at the last possible date in Project, 12/31/2049.

Hi,

Sure, very very sure you didn't do leveling (automatic or manual)
There are instances when leveling does that.
Look for the availability of the resources as shown under Resource
Information.
When there's a resource whose availability stops and leveling pushes a task
into the timespan after its availability the end date ends up to be Dec 31,
2049.
