First line of each page indented one character.

This is a strange one for me. I have been trying to figure out what is
going on with the user's document and i am failing. The first line of each
page is indented one character. It can even be the second or third line in
the paragraph but if it is the first line on the page, it is indented. I
turn on show formatting and that doesn't indicate anything special there.
If i add a blank line at the first line of the page, then the display is
correct but the blank line paragraph mark shows as being indented one
character. What can i do to fix my user's document? Thanks, charlie

Just a guess here, but try renaming "normal.dot" and then open Word and
see if things work correctly(Word will rebuild the Normal.dot file)

Hi Charles,

It sounds like an there is an object in the Header/Footer layer.

More than likely it is due to using Insert/Page Numbers which places a
page field in a frame. Many times the page field gets deleted but the
frame is left behind only to be accidentally moved into the document
area.

Try the following:
- Turn on your nonprinting characters (Ctrl + Shift + 8 or click ¶ in
the Standard toolbar)
- Go to View/Header and Footer
- First look for a paragraph mark near the first line of the page
-Hover your mouse over the paragraph mark and watch for it to
change to multi-directional pointer
- Click to select the frame
- Press Delete.

If you don't see a paragraph mark or find a frame then try turning on
the "Select Objects" command found on the Drawing toolbar and use it
to select the top portion of the document. It may reveal a drawing
object with a transparent border as the cause of the problem.

Never thought of those two ideas. I did look at the header/footer to see if
there was something there. There was a paragraph mark there but didn't
check it for a frame. Will do that now.
Hooray!! That was it. A frame in both the footer and the header. Thank you
so much. charlie
