First page header changes after section break - how to prevent?

Hi,

I have a document where on the first page there is the logo and adress of my
company in the header. On the next pages I only want a smaller version of the
logo.

I worked with 'different first page header' and that worked perfectly well.

The problem is that if I use a 'section break-next page', it changes to the
first header (because of the "different first page"). I can turn this option
off and then my header changes.

Isn't there an option that, whatever you do, only the first page has a
different heater, some sort of "don't change the header when using a section
break"-button?
This would make things much easier for the people here...

Unfortunately, when you create a new section, it uses the settings of the
previous section. As you've seen, this must be changed after the insertion.

Why are you inserting a section break, by the way? It is required, of
course, if you are creating a front matter, or if you are changing the
orientation (or some other layout setting). But note that if you just need a
page break and don't want to use a manual one, you can use "Page break
before" paragraph formatting instead (on the relevant paragraph).

If you do need a section, a macro can do what you want. You'd better ask in
microsoft.public.word.vba.general for more help.

Hi Stefan,

So without VBA there is problably no solution...
The only reason we use it is to change from portrait to landscape. is there
maybe a way to change my page lay-out without a section break? That would
solve the problem too...

No, changing the orientation requires a section break, unfortunately.
