"Fix broken text"

(Using Word 2002 with SP-2.)

What exactly is "Tools > Fix broken text" supposed to do? All I can see is
that it allows you to change the language a text is written in after which
the converted text gets changed to the Ariel font (which is pointless
exercise if it's already in Ariel).

Is that it?

Hi Bob,

'Fix Broken Text' is an optional install feature in Word 2002
and Word 2003 that replaced the EEFonts add-in
from earlier versions as described here
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/fontrepair.aspx
