Fix for listnum field followed by non-breaking space

Laura

Hi,

Some time back I asked in this forum if there was a way
to keep a listnum field on the same line as the text
following it -- as the non-breaking space character
doesn't work for it (in Word 2000/2002).

Today I discovered that if you go to TOOLS, OPTIONS,
COMPATIBILITY and check the "USE LINE BREAKING RULES"
check box (toward the bottom), it works.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, the "Use line breaking rules" compatibility option is
not available in Word 2000. There is an option titled "Use Word 97
line breaking rules for Asian text", which doesn't make nonbreaking
spaces work with LISTNUM fields, though.

(Note that both of these compatibility options actually refer to Asian
text. For a description of compatibility options, see:

Thanks for the link! (bummer about Word 2000).
