Man, MS still doesn't have numbering figured out in Word, esp. outline
numbering. I'm not a newbie who just doesn't know how to use numbering in
Word. I'm a Word expert, VBA programmer, MSP in VB6, I'm a software product
manager in a large software firm, and I've read all the articles on how
numbering works in the background in Word. But gosh darnit MS, I don't see
why you can't get this simple thing right.
My latest frustration is that all though I have Track Changes OFF, numbering
changes I make to my outline numbering are still tracked! In typical
MS-style, this happens with some document and not with others. Another
favorite is after changing some outline numbering, everything looks fine. But
the second I hit Save, it gets completely messed up. I know some COM junkie
will justify that by explaining the inner working of Word, but from a
user-perspective, that just ain't right.
