P
Please_fix_it
Hi,
My wife's WinXP machine died a horrible BSOD (the MS reporting said is was a
undeterminable hard disk error - it wasn't - it was WinXP frying several
of it's DLL files that it wouldn't let me fix or replace even from the
original CD).
I had to reinstall everything because the only way to fix WinXP is to do the
stupid recovery. Man I hate that recovery concept!!! It never works and then
you have
to completely wipe your disk - which means you always lose data even if you
backed up last night.
But the real thing that annoys me is that when I reinstalled Office and then
did the
office update thing - your wizard gave me a choice to search for and install
the update without (sans) the office disk. (I had to get the Office disks
from work and
I'm going to have to return them to work so I won't have them available next
time I do an update.) Anyway, your wizard said that it would do this but lo
and behold,
when it actually started to install it "DEMANDED" the Office disks anyway.
This, as it turns out, is going to be a major pain. Please don't tell me you
are going
to do something and then not do it. Don't lie to me! If I have to have the
disks, then
tell me that up front, don't pretend that I might be able to get the job
done without
the disks.
I apologize for my angry tone but I've just spent the whole day
resinstalling everything to get a workable system for something that, in my
opinion, was an MS
OS/software fault.
