fixed decimal formatting

Can the fixed decimal option apply to only one column, or does it always
apply to the whole spreadsheet?
I have column A with a custom acct number which includes hyphens
(01-01-123-456). Applying the custom format allows me to enter the number
without the hyphens.
Column B has currency. I did not want to have to enter the decimal point so
I entered the fixed decimal option on the spreadsheet. This was great for
column B, but changed all my acct numbers in column A.
I did find that by entering a decimal after my acct number, it would
disregard the "fixed decimal" I applied to the spreadsheet. Is this the only
way to do it?

Assuming I understand what you want,

Select the cells and right click
Format Cell
select number and choose the decimal point you want
click OK

this apply to those cells that you have selected

Francis,
If I turn off the 'fixed decimal' option, pick my column, right click,
choose format, number with 2 decimals, then my numbers come out like this: I
enter 102 and I get 102.00.
What I want to see is 1.02. (I don't want to have to enter the decimal place
for each entry.)
Unless I have the "fixed decimal" option turned on, I can't find a way to
make it work and not mess up my first column which has the account numbers.
