FIXED POSITION FOR TABLES

L

Lindsey

I would like to be able to fix the postion of a table
that I have inserted into a Word Document. So that no one
would be able to accidentally move it. We use the
document as a template for a proposal and so text is
always being inserted onto this document and the table
sometimes moves down the page if too much text is
displayed. Any help is
greatly appreciated

There is no simple way to do what you are asking. You may want to look into
what Word calls an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online
forms, follow the links at <URL:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm> especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles. In a properly designed form, you can lock
components in place (as well as keep people from inadvertently changing
other things that shouldn't be changed).

Hope this helps,

See the MVP FAQ: <URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/> which is awesome!

G'Day Lindsey,

A. Insert a Text Box, that is the full margin width and then some.
Format the Box:
Colors & Lines>Color>No Line
Text Box >Word wrap...... - UNcheck
Resize AutoShape ... - Check
"Convert to Frame" (Button) - Click>Ok.

B. Format Frame:
Text wrapping - NONE
Move with Text - UNcheck
Lock Anchor - Check

C. Insert Table INSIDE the Frame - if the original Text Box
was 8-10mm wider than the margins a full width table will
fit comfortably inside it..

As you insert text above the Table, it will flow AROUND the
Table-in-a-Frame.

Does this help?
