because whenever i open a new document, the settings was always not the
one that i previously used.

youll need to provide lots more information before anyone can give an
answer. describe the context fully including how you formatted the text and
include your version of word and whether this applies only to a blank new
document or a preexisting document

Hello-

First, it would be a good idea to update Mac Office to the most current
version, 11.2.1 (you may have to do an interim update first).

It sounds like you routinely need to use settings other than those
provided by the defaults for margins & some others which are controlled
by the Normal template. You might want to take a look at;

http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/CreateATemplatePart1.htm

and post back with any specific questions.

Actually, the Formatting Palette kinda hides the trick from you....hadn't
noticed that before. So use the main menu bar for these steps.

To reset margins, go to Format | Document. Set the desired margins, then
click Default.

Then go to Format | Font, set the desired font and size, then click Default.

Clicking Default--in any dialog where it exists--will add the change to your
Normal template, which is the basis for new documents, so it should stick.
The Formatting Palette, unlike the older dialogs, doesn't offer the Default
button, as far as I can tell.

If you need to change anything else, ask specifically--or try using the
dialogs off the menu bar (instead of the Formatting Palette) and looking for
a Default button.

The articles CyberTaz recommended are very helpful for general knowledge but
don't answer your specific question--however, reading them will probably
enlighten you as to what is going on in general. Another approach to setting
defaults would be to actually open up the Normal template file and make
changes directly in it, but it's best to use the Default button if one
exists.
