Fixing Broken Links between Workbooks

Hello,

Newbie with Link woes....

How do I prevent Excel form replacing my relative link path with an
absolute link path that breaks ALL my List Links shared bewteen 2
workbooks and sheets?

I have succefully set up 2 Workbooks to share Linked Lists and had it
working. IE: =MASTER_KEYWORDS.xls!KEYWORDSEARCH_LIST_1

Now the "refer to" drills down ='HD/DOCS/FOLDER_A/FOLDER_B/
Workbook......etc poof, no list links work.

I believe I am missing some Excel file handling "etiquette" . These
workbooks/worksheets are very picky. What is the best way to prevent
this from happening and can I restore them some easy way?

Thank you,
Scott

I suspect you're not using MacXL, which is the topic of this newsgroup
(hence the .mac. in the name), but it works much the same in both
platforms.

You don't really create a "relative link" - all links are absolute, but
when the source workbook is open, XL only displays the truncated
path/filename.

Use Edit/Link to change the source of the link to the new location of
your source workbook.
