Flag status column in Outlook 2003

In my inbox folder, there is a flag status column, but I can't click on
the flag icon next to each message to change the flag status. In other
folders, I can. Any way to fix this?

Does a rightclick on the column give you an option to choose the color? Does
it work through Actions-> Follow Up?
See if restting/changing the view on the Inbox solves it for you.
