flags slow project down

Hello,

I am using Project 2003. The file has about 7000 lines. Ideally it would
have more, but I have had to break it up into different files due to speed.

When I set up flags for conditional formatting the response time to make
any changes in project slowed right down dramatically.

I am not much of a VBA coder. Is there anything out there that could make
the colours for me without slowing down?

You could turn off Automatic Calculation in Tools > Options, then just batch
refresh the fields periodically with the F9 key. That may improve performance.
Other options may be to add RAM, review the machines specs, etc.

Eventually, you may wish to consider going to the 64bit version of Project
2010 which is designed for big files with extensive calculations like yours.

Andrew,

64 bit is for big files, but I think that if you are not paging to memory a
lot, the calculation should not be tremendously different between the two...
It would be interesting to test.
