Flash links wont work with Entourage

Good afternoon everyone,

At work I have recently converted several colleagues to Mac users with
great success except for a few small conversion problems. Most of the
problems i have resolved or posted on different forums/newsgroups but
one in particular you guys might be able to help me with.

Here at work we send a lot of emails that contain fancy Java html
files. These flash/html pictures contain literature of some sort along
with pictures and link encoded onto selected picture icons. On a
typical PC running outlook or even a simple web based email system
(e.g. www.hotmail.com), these link on the pictures work flawlessly.
With Mac's 'Mail' program these links work as well. However, when a
entourage user receives one of these emails, it comes in as a JPG file
and none of the links work.

The links don't work in the preview nor when the message is opened in
its own screen. The links don't work even if I save the attachment and
open it up with 'preview', if i rename the file with an extension
..htm/html, if i open the file with firefox/safari the links still don't
work. If i forward the email to another individual, they receive the
file as a jpg with no links either.

Does anyone have any suggestion?

Entourage will not animate embedded gifs in simple HTML (or as attachments
to plain text messages). It will, however, animate gifs in complex HTML
messages as the rendering there is done by the IE engine.

Under View in the menu bar, select "Source". This will allow you to see the
link and copy it. Not a very elegant solution, but it should at least give
you the link.

Hi Diane, just wondering if you could tell me something: how can I get this
whole "help" group I'm subscribed to now, into my Folders list? Every time
I want to see a message, I'm now going to Microsoft News Service, finding
this group, etc etc. There's got to be a better way I'm ignorant of. Thanks
much.

You can't view newsgroup messages in the folder list. The folder list is for
email messages only. You can copy messages to the folder list if there is
something you want to save.

The newsgroup should show up in the folder list below your "On Your
Computer" folders if you have _subscribed_ to the newsgroup. See
instructions here for subscribing:

Let me know if this improves the situation.
